RORY'S STORY
Rory when she first arrived in Margaret River.
Rory found her self surrendered to a WA pound in 2011 she was unsterilised and was suffering from a horrible skin condition. She was re homed but was surrendered soon after when her skin condition worsened. The Ranger that first meet Rory decided she was too lovely to be left at the shelter and fostered her at home but due to the increasing health care required for both her skin and eye issues Dogue De Bordeaux Rescue was contacted as they felt they would be better equipped to find her a subtitle forever home. So Brooke and Jarred from TAUREAUXROUG kennel were called in to help, they contacted the DDB rescue coordinater Jo, as unfortunately they were unable to foster Rory them selves. Jo then put the word out for an available foster carer for Rory to help get her back to health before finding her a permanent home. I received an email from Jo and decided i would be happy to help and foster Rory till she was healthly. So after having an entropian surgery performed on both eyes up in Perth she was collected by Brooke's parents and escorted to me in Margaret River.
When i first saw Rory she was a little on the skinny side, her skin was horrible having almost no hair on her chin and legs partly due to the fact she was not sterilised. Her eyes were a mess as you can see in the photo, she had just had her operation. She was given skin scrapes that were positive for Mange that had caused a great deal of secondary skin infection on her legs and stomach. The next few weeks she was microchipped, sterilised on put on medication and a bathing schedule to help with her skin.
Rory was in our home for a grand total of four day's before Jo received an email asking four simple words "can we keep her?" She was what the rescue group call a "Foster Failure" as she was loved so much by her foster family that it was decided she should be with us forever. She is truly a loving, gentle and happy soul. One of a kind is an understatement!!! If not for the great work the Dogue De Bordeaux Rescue group does dogs like Rory may not have a happy ending. Please think about the commitment your making when selecting a DDB for a pet they can bring so much joy to your life but you need to ask the question"can i give this dog what it need's for LIFE".
