When I was a little girl I loved anything animal. My parents knew I would be trouble. I owned every animal movie, toy and cartoon ever made but when I first watched the movie "Turner and Hooch" I knew this was the dog for me when I grow up, however I was still just a little girl and it would be many many years before my dream of owning a dogue would become a reality.
My love for animals great and small is what lead me to become a veterinary nurse but no animal has touched my heart and soul like a Dogue De Bordeaux they are truly a gift to anyone who has the pleasure of owning one.
We are a small kennel located in the breathtaking coastal town of Margaret River our kennel name Beavaisrogue loosely translated meaning Beavais "Handsome face" and Rogue "a scoundrel or rascal". Having first started shown Bordeaux’s in 2010. Working with some of the most respected breeders both here in Australia and around the world to strive to continue to improve the breed in health, type and temperament.
My dogues are first and foremost my pets they live as members of the family in the house, at work and are the centre of our lives. Our dogs happiness comes first. As we live three hours from Perth we do not show every weekend but instead choose our shows carefully and spend our weekend off down the beach or at our local dog obedience and agility training. If you have ever owned a dogue you will know how much they love the water. We also have the privilege of owning a rescue dogue who reminds us every day of how critical ethical and responsible breeding is to this special breed. This is why all our dogues are health tested which includes hip and elbow scoring, cardiac testing, eye cleared and thyroid tested, prior to being included in our breeding.
In April 2011 i flew over to Sydney to attend the first breed specialty show judged by world respected breed specialist judge Mr Bas Bosch (Netherlands) at which there was 40 dogue's entered, the largest number of dogues to ever be entered here in Australia to date. Followed the next day by a Molosser breed seminar given by Bas Bosch including the Dogue De Bordeaux. I cannot tell you what an eye opener this experience was for me. It was truly invaluable to me both as an owner and to the future of my kennel. I got to meet so many truly great people and got to see some of the top dogs Australia has to offer in the flesh.
In August 2011 I was contacted by one of the administrators of Dogue De Bordeaux Rescue Australia, Jo, who was looking for a foster carer for a dogue in ill health that had been dumped three months before hand. This is how we came to own Rory - please visit her page for her story and the great work Dogue De Bordeaux rescue do for this amazing breed.
2012 has been a big year for our kennel in April I flew over to Sydney to visit Leanne from Bellarouge Kennel, her amazing dogues and her latest litter. I was also able to go and watch the dogues compete in the 2012 Easter royal show. When I returned I did not go home empty handed I was to bring my new baby girl home with me Kesha "Bellarouge Kahleesi". I am so thankful to Leanne for trusting me with this little gem I could not be more happy with her and we have very high hopes for this little lady. Also this year we become a member of the "Dogue De Bordeaux Club of Australia" an exciting step forward to be included with some of the most respected and knowledgeable breeders in Australia.
In October we were blessed again with the exciting news that Mathias "Amedange Sweet Thing" would be joining our family. Vicki from Amedange Kennel has blessed us with her choice male from this litter a gift that will never be forgotten. His breeding is truly remarkable and we look forward to seeing this very special boy in the showring.
2013 saw Kesha and I trip across the country to show at the Sydney Royal and catch up with friends.
2014 is promising to be exciting with Kesha expecting her first litter in August to one of the most beautiful stud dogs in the DDBX World. A huge thank you to Kris Munday at Camelot in USA and to Vicki @ Amedange in Australia for helping make this mating happen for us. See our litter page for more details.
We do full health tests on all our dogs. Health, quality and true to type Dogues are what we strive for. Temperament also plays a vital role in our breeding so that we can produce well adjusted new family members.
I am happy to help with any enquiries and advice about the breed or just simply to chat. We love to talk Dogue so please feel free to call or shoot us an email.
